Jubilee

I hope everybody is having a fantastic Jubilee bank holiday weekend! I myself started the weekend by buying myself a new denim tie-dye shirt in Topshop and going down to Hoxton, I had some fantastic Vietnamese food and then I went to Hoxton Bar & Kitchen were I got suddenly homesick by seeing my English friends randomly drinking an Icelandic beer called Einstök! At least I have got a flight ticket to Iceland in the end of July for 2 weeks of summer holiday :)

Buy here.

I went on a mission to see the Queen today, took the tube to London Bridge and there were so many people there. I couldn't get to the river bank because everything was closed which was a bummer. So I went home to watch the whole thing on TV. Why stand in the rain and watch some outdoor screen if you can do it at home. There were no shockers in the Royal party outfits but I do think Kate looked wonderful in a red ensemble and my respect to them standing for 4 hours waving!

I have to admit, since I moved to London I have bought a few Look magazines where Kate is on the cover. I guess it's becoming a weakness although I don't believe everything that's written about her but I do like to watch what she is wearing sometimes (note: sometimes.. not everyday!).

Ukuleles

Now I am not the kind of person that gets sick a lot or complains about things, but somehow I seem to be that person in my new job and I don't like it. My first month I got sick twice, once with a flu and second with food poisoning! And now, right after this awful food poisoning I get serious ache in one wisdom tooth that has been growing over the past months. I must seem like a total loser to my workmates, well, let's hope not.

Anyway, with being sick and working late very often I seem to have forgotten about my little blog. What a shame.

When I think about my current inspiration, it's ukuleles. Who doesn't want to sing Moon River on an Ukulele looking like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's? I know she was technically playing a small guitar but the idea is lovely.

1. Scarf, H&M.
2. Ukulele, Birdlandmusic.
3. Trousers, Boutique 1.
4. Shoes, French Sole.
5. Bag, Oasis.
6. Jumper, Warehouse.

Multi-coloured fur!

Looking at past fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris there is a clear trend. Multicoloured fur! When I was working in a design store back in Iceland I was selling rabbit fur scarfs that had been dyed different bright colours, they were really pretty and soft and now that concept has been transferred into whole fur coats! Isn't it cool? And question, would you wear a commercial version of these coats?

Paris Fashion Week

Sorry for no posts recently, I've been working a lot and got ill so I've been sleeping for unthinkable hours and feeling like crap. Hope this goes over soon because spending my precious weekend ill is not what I was planning.

Paris Fashion Week is almost over and Paris always has the best shows. If you have succeeded as a designer anywhere in the world, you want to show in Paris. These are my favourite looks from Paris.

Gareth Pugh
What a fantastic designer. He is one of my all time favourite designers because he makes everything so cool. His style is always kind of sci-fi, rock-star out if this world. You want to be that person that wears that leather jacket or that amazing leather dress. If I was a millionaire black metal singer (note: I don't think they excist) I would wear every single thing that he has made.

Rick Owens
This collection had some great draping, great leather as always and a super cool overall concept. Just like Gareth Pugh but on a different level, he makes everything so cool! Some of the outfits felt animal-like, like this Icelandic myth about a creature that is half-women and half-seal.

Ann Demeulemeester
These three designers must be the coolest designers on the planet. Ann Demeulemeester, Gareth Pugh and Rick Owens? If they would make the costumes for a sci-fi movie it would be the most beautiful and the most weird sci-fi movie ever. How grand is that deep-blue colour?

Yoji Yamamoto
I didn't like every piece from this collection but there was a definite Yamamoto feel to it with beautiful drapery, contrasting colours and capes!

Balmain
Known as the rock-star label of choice after Christopher Decarnin took over as head designer and now Olivier Rousteing is taking it too another level with insane embroidery and impeccable details.

Sonia Rykiel
Rykiel being the French Queen of stripes I did miss seeing interesting coloured stripes this season. I can just imagine that peach colour with black and that yellow in stripes. But I did like the collection, it was more subtle and it had great colour combinations. I would so love that peach fur coat!

Isabel Marant
Really great lace dresses and blouses, trousers with embroidery and cowboy shirts? Looked lovely!

Monki

Monki is a high street brand from Sweden and it has been pretty exclusive to Scandinavia over the past years. But finally, they opened a store in London at Carnaby Street! I didn't manage to come to the opening because I was working but I went today and it so awesome. The store is on 2 floors, it's got fabulous branding and merchandising and I literally want to buy every single item. They have this great concept of the Monki World which has really cute creatures called Monkis. The clothing is really cool, always on trend and reasonably priced. Even though it's not yet pay day I had to buy a couple of things!

Oki creature, Oki socks and Monki bra.

How cute is that? The Monki is called Oki and this is his description:

"Oki loves to tag along on impossible missions and he always makes sure that no one gives up. If you are looking for a shot of confidence, or a convenient answer, Oki will boost you up.
Secret talent: Can come up with the perfect cheer song just when you need one."

Buy yours here!

There are definitely some pieces I have my eyes on for pay day!

The Root

You know when you have dyed hair and you just can't afford to get it dyed anytime soon? Then maybe it's best to rock the root like Sally Jonsson here.

Elie Saab

I know everybody's thinking about London Fashion Week right now but I found myself looking at Elie Saab haute couture yesterday. I've seen all the dresses before but they are just so gorgeous that I want to see the details and the fabric and getting inspired because I am designing a wedding dress for a singer. I wish I could show you guys my sketches and inspiration but it's all top secret for now. But what I can do, is show you some great dresses. Elie Saab is the master of effortless and elegant dresses and when I see his collections every single outfit is just lovely.

Spring 2012 - Haute Couture
The colours are so beautiful and the details!

Katy Perry wearing Elie Saab, Spring 2012 collection.

Jessica Biel wearing Elie Saab, Fall 2011 collection.

This last dress is my absolute favourite. It's modern yet vintage, effortless yet grand.
