Trend: Sport

With the Olympics being in held in London this year there is a no brainer that sport came back as a trend for the Spring season. It's a tough thing, to juggle being sporty and chic at the same time but I have to say, the fashion blogger Sandra from 5 inch and up does it beautifully. There are several looks she has put together, for example here and here where sport and chic ties up perfectly.

I saw these perfect wedges on My-Wardrobe so I felt inspired to put together a sport chic look.

New bag!

I don't have many handbags because I feel I never see the exact bag I am looking for. So many bags just look cheap, are not interesting enough or they have TOO much going on! I feel they say so much about you, even more than your coat or shoes!

Anyway, so lately I've been desperately looking for a new everyday handbag / purse because my old one, a black H&M one is pretty close to falling apart. Generally I don't wear things until they fall apart, I get easily bored and want something new to wear but with bags, I don't know what it is, a bag just really has to catch my eye so I want to wear it and when I finally find it I want to use it everyday!

So you can imagine how happy I was when I found a bag in the Topshop online store that I felt excited about, that I felt was good quality and interesting but still classy!

It's 100% leather in a tan colour in it's just lovely!

I have been obsessed with tan leather for the past 2 years and I just can't get it out of my head. Most leather bags in London are at least 70-100 pounds and honestly I can't spend so much on a single item (yet!) so I always have to find something a little bit cheaper and something that's still going to last so I really feel I made a good purchase with this fine bag and I love using it everyday and tan leather fits with everything, be it black, neon, pastels, whatevs, it always looks good!

You can get this bag here on the Topshop website. I received mine in 2 days so I really recommend their online store, it's so fast!

Best love scene ever!

This is my all time favourite love scene. Kissing in the rain with a cat in-between? Purrfect!

Happy Valentine's Day!

RIP Whitney Houston

It's quite sad that Whitney Houston has passed but I have to admit, it was going to happen sooner than later. Just like Amy Winehouse, she wasn't going to rehab and your not going to live forever as a drug addict. But it makes you sad nevertheless.

When I was about 12 years old I took a Whitney Houston phase. I think I had a CD with all her greatest hits and my all time favourite song is probably "I wanna dance with somebody."

As a some kind of tribute I put together two looks inspired by her and this video because frankly, the outfits in the video are fantastic and very relevant to the fashion today! (Except the make-up.)

1. Bodycon dress, Miss Selfridge.
2. Tights, Express.
3. Denim jacket, Topshop.
4. Shoes, Steve Madden.
5. Earrings, Charm and Chain.

1. Tights, Pretty Polly.
3. Bodycon dress, Celeb boutique.
6. Heels, Topshop.

New York Fashion Week

New York fashion week has just started so it's still a bit too early to see what is leading the way this season but it's fun going through the shows and seeing what the designers are coming up with. Obviously NYFW is more commercial then others so it's nice to see wearable garments on the runway, something you just have to have but not necessarily wear it for show.

I picked out some of my favourite looks so far.

Suno with some lovely shapes and prints.

Rebecca Minkoff with bright colours and wearable garments.

Rag&Bone with some nice wool wrapping coats!

Rachel Zoe showing lovely lace, velvet and prints.

Peter Som with colourful fur!

Nicole Miller showing prints and velvet.

Lacoste are ready for skiing.

Jill Stuart showing some cute girly dresses that will easily by copied by the high street.

And last but not least, Helmut Lang with fantastic jackets.

Which show is your favourite so far?

Look inspired by menswear!

I used my last post as a little bit of inspiration for this look. First of all, I couldn't stop thinking about those Balmain white leather trousers so I put some white jeans (with no 1500 pound Balmain price tag) from Victoria Beckham. I thought I had to have some velvet in there so I chose the Madewell shoes. I loved the layering from Givenchy so I decided to go for a River Island leather waistcoat to go over an orange wool jacket from M Missoni. I couldn't resist so I added some orange socks inspired by the Dries Van Noten show, but from Topshop. Finally, you need a manly bag to finish off that menswear inspired outfit so Fred Perry was the obvious way to go!

Menswear Fall 2012

I love menswear fashion. Womenswear is often like having a blank canvas. You can pretty much do anything. But with menswear you have to be more subtle. It's all about the details, the hint of the idea and it's very often a great inspiration for styling. Another great thing about menswear is that the shows of the seasons are before the womenswear shows so it's a great sign of what's to come.

Phillip Lim

Great styling with the belt knot.

Jonathan Saunders

Nice styling there.

Stripes with print and fantastic shoes.

Print on print.

Givenchy

Plain white shirt with a t-shirt.

Woolen vest over a leather jacket.

Dries Van Noten

Orange socks, like.

Notice the detail on the shirt.

Burberry Prorsum

Dark velvet.

Loving the cat.

Balmain

Very nice white leather pants!

Ann Demeulemeester

Loving the tie-dye on the boots.

Alexander Wang
